Formaldehyde is produced industrially by the catalytic oxidation of methanol. Formalin is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde gas with chemical formula CH₂O (H-CHO), which is mainly used in the production of industrial adhesive resins for wood-based industries. It is also applied in textile industry, automobiles, medical, etc.
